JAY ELECTRONICA PRESENTS MORE EVIDENCE: EXHIBIT C

DAMN, DAMN, DAMN.

Jay Electronica is beating us in the head once again with some lyrical c-r-a-z-i-n-e-s-s.

Obviously I mean this in the BEST way possible.

I'm a few hours late on the update, but better late than never.

Check the radio rip for "Exhibit C" produced by Just Blaze, which should motivate all rappers to burn their rhyme books (or delete all notes in the blackberry/iPhone/whatever ya'll write rhymes into) and start ALL over. This song is killing everything out there right now.

Exhibit C radio rip download

Also: view the lyrics for Exhibit C that Jay Electronica emailed FWMJ here

If you happen to live in a cave and missed Exhibit A or B, download them below & try to get out of the house a little more...(or at least get closer to a better internet connection...lol)

ENJOY!!

CHACE INFINITE TAKES IT PERSONAL...(VIDEO & DOWNLOAD)

Chance Infinite, 1/2 of the amazing group Self Scientific (which also includes DJ Khalil*) has taken a very popular thought amongst emcees and turned it into a project with his"I Would Have Killed This" mixtape.

The project features Chace over tracks that DJ Khalil created for other artists and I have to say...Chace def bodied ALL of them.

In my opinion, Chace is, without question, of THEE most underrated/slept on emcees out there. This man stays dropping jewels that lots of people miss on the regular, sadly.

Download this mixtape and check the video for the 1st track on the cd, titled "Personal Religion" (done over the the beat for Jay-Z's "Mama I made It"*).

Shout to the homie Dedan Kasimu, I see you, brother.

1 – Personal Religion // Jay-Z “Mamma I Made It”
2 – Oil & Sand // Depari “All I Know”
3 – Money In My Hand (ft. Kobe) // Fabolous “Imma Do It”
4 – 730 (ft. Fashawn & Curt@!ins) // Nas “What It Is”
5 – The Path (ft. Kobe) // 50 Cent ft. Akon “I’ll Still Kill”
6 – Hostile Gospel 2.5 // Talib Kweli “Hostile Gospel 2″
7 – Black Rockstar (ft. The New Royales) // Slaughterhouse “The One”
8 – It’s My Year // The Clipse ft. Kanye West “Kinda Like A Big Deal”
9 – Devil’s Disguise // Drake “Fear”
10 – Screwface Villains (ft. Joe) // Slaughterhouse “Cuckoo”
11 – Of Our Own
12 – It’s On
13 – Heavy (ft. The New Royales)

I Eeny Meeny Miny Moe Them Hoes, I'm SO trill [Monday Motivation]

For one reason or another, I woke up this morning with EXTRA movement in my 2-step. lol

I personally feel like the song "Trill" by Clipse should have played from heaven as soon as my feet touched the hardwood floor this morning...but since it didn't, I'm posting it here : )

I'm fully aware that this song is a few years old, but it has the same effect on me now as it did when it originally dropped.

This is the type of song that you turn up in the morning and sing to yourself as you get ready for your day.

The type of song that should play as you walk down your block and as you're grocery shopping, slapping corn flakes into your basket from the shelf...lol

As you slide your debit card through the machine, look the checkout person in the eye and say "...b*tch, I'm trill...b*tch, I'm SO trill...". Wink at them if you're feeling extra Trill.

Enjoy your Monday, you trill a#$ n*ggas, you ; )

Beyond: RIP Larry Sok

Energy between people is funny sometimes.

There are people that I've known for years, yet still feel distant from. And there are others that I've met and instantly feel connected and bonded to.

Larry was one of those people.

The best relationships, for me, are the ones that energize my spirit. The ones that make me smile and bring positivity to my day. The ones that motivate me to do more; to live more.

My connection with Larry did that and I know I'm not alone. I know that Larry made many peoples lives more full and more lively. And if I feel this way today, after only being friends with him for a relatively short time, I can only imagine the heart break that his long time friends & family are experiencing now.

Larry's body may have been laid to rest today, but a spirit such as his has no choice but to continue soaring. Hopefully the way he lived his physical days here on earth will motivate all who know him to live as he did, fully & with excitement.

This is not the end. It's simply Larry's transition into the next phase of his life.

He's simply traveled beyond.

Blessings, L.

I'm so thankful for your presence, then and now.

THROWBACK THURSDAY: "NEW JACK HUSTLER" - ICE T

When I was a kid, Ice T was one of my favorite emcees. I don't know how I got away with listening to his music but this song was my morning, get ready for school anthem for a griiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiip.

Check the Mike Tyson cameo in the video

"Hustler... word, I pull the trigger long... grit my teeth, spray.... till every niggas gone"

THROWBACK THURSDAY: "PUNKS JUMP UP TO GET BEAT DOWN" - BRAND NUBIAN

This song right here is an undisputed champion classic hip hop track. I can't tell you how many times I rewound my tape just to hear this song alone. lol

Enjoy.

THROWBACK THURSDAY: "LET'S WAIT A WHILE" - JANET JACKSON

I decided to switch it up a little bit today. Hip Hop is where my heart is, but there are SO many throwback songs that aren't hip hop and I've been neglecting them.

This song by Janet Jackson was one of my favorites when I was a kid. I wish people still made videos (and songs*) like this today.

Enjoy.

THROWBACK THURSDAY: "NUFF RESPECT" - BIG DADDY KANE

When I was a kid, Big Daddy Kane, Kool Moe Dee and Rakim were the smoothest rappers out, in my opinion. These men are the fathers of your favorite rappers style. They possessed confidence not only in the presentation of their music, but also in their way of dress. Women loved them, men wanted to be them and rightfully so.

The illest part about it was that they did it in such a way that you couldn't ignore it but it wasn't pretentious.

Sometimes less is more. Send your favorite rapper the memo.

THROWBACK THURSDAY: "I GO TO WORK" - KOOL MOE DEE

Note the bowtie. Chris Brown could never have rocked it like that. lol

Enjoy

THROWBACK THURSDAY: "PAID IN FULL" - ERIC B & RAKIM

This is a classic. Period.

MIND ON YOUR MONEY: METHOD MAN ARRESTED FOR TAX EVASION

I know I'm a few days late on posting this information. You may or may not have heard...but Method Man was taken into police custody earlier this week awaiting arraignment on Tax Evasion charges. His Lincoln Navigator was repossessed by the department of taxation, after he failed to pay $52,503 in arrears.

This fact yielded a "damn...c'mon now, my dude" from me. We know you're making paper, Meth. How else would you be able to support your infamous marijuana habit? Is the bud SO crazy that you forgot the fact that you need to have an accountant AND pay your taxes?

I hate to see situations like this. It's messy as hell and something that you may expect from a less seasoned artist or celebrity, although it happens to the most successful, established artists around.

smh.

WELCOME HOME, SHYNE...?

Hip Hop artist, Shyne (Jamal Barrow) is expect to be released from prison today. Barrow was originally sentenced in June of 2001, in connection with the infamous 1999 shooting that involved Jennifer Lopez and Sean "P Diddy" Combs.

I just wanted to send some positive thoughts out today in anticipation of this talented brothers release from prison. I'm sure he has endless amounts of new material and I'm looking forward to hearing what's next for him.

Below are the videos for 2 of my Shyne songs. Enjoy & hopefully I can update this post later today with news of his official return home.

UPDATE (10/6/09 -11:21pm)

I've been off line for most of the day and just sat down the computer. Appearently, Shynes release is currently under review. Representatives for the rapper informed MTV News that the Brooklyn MC is being detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement at an unspecified facility in Western New York State. Officials are determining whether or not to deport the rapper, who was born in Belize, a rep explained.

Shyne is currently in federal custody while his future immigration status is determined,” the rep said in a message to MTV News. Shyne attorney Oscar Michelen emphasized to MTV News on Tuesday afternoon that Shyne has not been released, contrary to media reports.

As if serving 8 years of his life wasn't enough...smfh

R.I.P MR. MAGIC

The fact that hip hop as a culture is losing so many icons that serve as the foundation so frequently is alarming. The news of Mr. Magic's passing truly surprised me. Maybe its because we look at many of the artists and DJ's who have shaped the culture as "super-hero-esque"; untouchable elements that will be here forever. We know that they will live on through their music and contributions, long after their physical lives have ended, but that doesn't make their passing any easier to take.

I hope that everyone takes the time to appreciate those who have paved the way. Without them, many of us would have no path to walk.

THROWBACK THURSDAY: "KNOW THE LEDGE" - ERIC B. & RAKIM

The songs / videos that I selected for today's Throwback Thursday are the epitome of hip hop classics. You can not go wrong with Rakim, Gangstarr or Black Moon. Each duo / group reminds me of what hip hop is missing right now and I had to show them some love.

Feel free to leave comments or suggestions for Throwback Thursday selections.

Enjoy!!!

THROWBACK THURSDAY: "CODE OF THE STREETS" - GANG STARR

THROWBACK THURSDAY: "WHO'S GOT THE PROPS" - BLACK MOON
